Professor Rhiannon Ash (University of Oxford) will be talking on Tiberius in Space: Proxemics and the Portrayal of a Princeps.
Professor Ash has kindly provided the following abstract:
This talk considers the many creative ways in which Tacitus depicts the emperor Tiberius operating and interacting with others within the spatial dimension. Whether Tiberius is too close or too far away, his mishandling of public and private space is a prominent and expressive feature of his depiction in Annals 1-6.
The meeting will take place in room A7 of the Samuel Alexander Building.

I am hoping to attend this event tonight. I teach Tacitus Annals 4 as a Latin A level set text and I also teach an A level Class. Civ. module on Tiberius and Claudius as seen through the eyes of Tacitus and Suetonius so the talk is perfect for me.
I am not a member of the Manchester C.A. so I hope it’s okay for me to come.
